FAQ’S

In the following questions and answers, the word “energy” is referring to the subtle body, aka thoughts, emotions, sensations, memories, experiences, etcetera. Even though we can’t necessarily see these things, we all feel them every day multiple times a day. They make up a large part of our bodies and become our physical mass.

Q: What is energy work? What does it do?

A: Energy work is a combination of many modalities that work on the subtle body and nervous system, helping to shift into the parasympathetic(rest and digest) nervous system, shifting stuck or stagnant thoughts, feelings, sensations, memories, patterns and experiences. This always happens for your highest potential. My intention is to support your ultimate growth and experience in this life.  

Q: How to use energy work sessions?

A: Energy work is best used when there is something in life you want help working and growing through. This can include past or present experiences, and intentions for the future.

  • A: All medicine, tools and techniques can be helpful at the right time, but not everything is helpful all the time for everyone. Having said that, I work with everyone and am especially passionate about working with young adults who may not have grown up with the support to move early trauma through the body. I want to see you live your best life, unrestricted by past pain. The sooner it is addressed the better.

    Working with me may not always be the most productive fit for everyone. In which case, I will be honest if I sense this and will respectfully say so.

    I will also say it is best to listen to your curiosity and if you feel interested in a session, it may be a good fit for you to experience at least once and go from there.

  • A: By booking the session you consent for me to tune into your energy starting from the beginning of our voice call. I do not use video so you can simply close your eyes, relax and speak or rest in silence and focus on your body without the distraction of visuals. We normally start by talking about any specific intentions you would like to work on. Sometimes conversation continues throughout the session as this can be helpful for energy movement as our body responds to everything we think and say. Meanwhile, my focus stays on the subtle energetic movements of your body and nervous system, supporting this with complete acceptance and presence throughout the whole session. Sometimes, talking throughout the whole session is not always desired and one can even feel drowsy and slip off into an energy work nap, which is profoundly healing as well. Either way is okay, whichever is flowing and easy is best. There is no need for you to feel any pressure to take notes, give effort or cognitively participate the whole time. The best advice is to simply “Relax. Let it be easy. Let it flow.” Simply notice what you notice, even if it seems minor. Towards the end of the session there is always the option to hear about any specific movement that stood out to me during your session. I sometimes give suggestions for solo self-care and homework. At the end of our call, I disconnect from your energy and we complete your session.

  • A: Sessions are not recorded and I do not take notes. It is unnecessary to reflect back on a recording, and best to simply be present with what is happening in the current moment. Things can shift quickly and also gently and gradually over the following weeks after a session. This depends on what you need. Trust that it will all unfold for your best.

    If something stands out to you, you are free to make your own note if you feel prompted to do so, however it’s not necessary.

  • A: Prepare a place that is quiet and cozy where you can relax, have privacy and feel safe. Have some headphones ready for the call so you have sound privacy and easy communication. Some nice things to have ready just in case are a blanket, pillow, and glass of water. Find a comfortable position seated, reclining or laying down. It is ideal to avoid stimulants the day of or at least a few hours before your session, which include coffee, caffeine in any form, chocolate, and alcohol. To reap the most from your session, if you do consume THC products, I suggest you avoid them at least a few days before and after your session.

  • A: Everyone is different and each session is different, even if you have had multiple sessions. We are living, constantly changing beings. It is always best to simply notice what you notice, listen to your body and be gracious with yourself. Some common things that can happen after sessions are gentle body shifts, temporary lethargy, vivid dreams, feeling light and free, realizations or an emotional release. Whatever comes up for you will always be manageable, beneficial and exactly what you need. Things can continue to evolve for up to several weeks and it is usually a gentle and subtle process. Occasionally, after sometime doing consistent energy work, one may experience a more intense healing experience, sometimes called a “healing crisis.” It will never be more than you can handle.   • A: The main difference being that I am not a trained or licensed mental health therapist. I am aware of and stay within the scope of my own training and ability for everyone’s comfort and safety. My focus is to listen to the subtle physiological and energetic expressions of your body, giving it space to speak and transform with the simple tool of empathetic presence and listening.

  • A: No, this work is different and doesn’t take the place of working with a licensed mental health therapist, spiritual counselor, or life coach. All modalities are helpful at different times. This means there may be a time in your life when this could be more appropriate than therapy, but it doesn’t take the place of it. I do not focus on the mind, but rather on your subtle body. This is why energy work can be complimentary to therapy for a holistic approach.

  • A: No. I do not participate in work that aims to tell you what you don’t know, predict the future or unknown, or dive into areas that I believe we are not meant explore. My work focuses on the present expressions of your body, sometimes impacted by the past and addressing that, and supporting your own realizations and clarity. I believe in supporting you in your own knowing about your own life. I believe this is more sustainable and productive rather than being dependent on someone outside of yourself.

  • A: No, this work is meant to be approachable to all. It is a neutral modality, just like massage for example, and does not aim to challenge or impart spiritual beliefs.

  • A: Everyone is different, which means that session frequency is personal and depends on what each individual is experiencing in life. I may make a suggestion after working with someone, but it is always their choice and I encourage using one’s self- awareness for choosing when to utilize energy work.

    In general, for someone in a crisis situation, scheduling once a week for a short period of time can be very helpful to prevent stagnation in the body, in conjunction with mental health therapy. In more normal life circumstances, clients generally schedule once a month for maintenance and continued growth. For most, this is usually a good frequency to facilitate a gentle and steady approach for assimilation, allowing things to settle and avoiding over stimulation.

  • A: I do focus on the body but not in a physical way of manipulating tissues. I listen to the subtle and sensory messages of the body including the nervous system . This does inevitably affect your physical body, because it is all connected.

  • A: This is definitely a little challenging to understand if you have never received touch free, remote work before. The best way to explain this is to compare it to talking to someone across the room or on the phone. The reason we are able to do this is because we learned as infants to hear, listen and speak a verbal language to communicate with each other.

    Through techniques I have learned, I can listen to the feelings and sensations your body is expressing, similar to the way we learn verbal communication. This is called empathetic listening, another way to hear a body’s expressions that aren’t spoken with words. We have all probably sensed this and unknowingly empathized with another person’s energy without realizing it. For example, when in someone’s presence or having a conversation with them, you may notice sensations in your body in response or reflection to who is around you or what is being said. This is why we sometimes feel drained or energized after spending time with certain people, because of empathic listening.

  • A: Yes. Depending on the type of trauma, energy work can be particularly helpful for those who are uncomfortable with physical touch and being around people. We are still able to address your body in a gentle and non-invasive way. With different types of trauma or conditions that affect one’s comfort with touch, it is especially important to address the body so it can feel safe again in conjunction with traditional trauma therapy. This combination can help relieve physical pain and discomfort and the avoidance of being in one’s body.

  • A: Yes and no. This depends on the situation and person. For some, physical pain and imbalance is indeed due to stuck energy being held in the body. For others, physical pain may need to be addressed in a more physical way and may be due to other imbalances. In which case, I will be honest if I do not believe I can help you and may suggest another modality with a different type of practitioner.

  • A: I do practice Reiki and am a certified Reiki Master in the Usui tradition. However I prefer to call these sessions “Energy Work” because I also integrate other techniques I have learned throughout my education.

  • A: A common block to effectively receiving energy and experiencing free flowing energy, is regular consumption of THC. I would generally advise those who consume THC products to give some space, a few days minimum, from these products before and after sessions to receive the most benefit.

  • A: First of all, we all have our shadows. I do not judge this but simply notice it as something that is. This is what you are here for, this is the time to give those tough things space and acknowledgement. Second, before all sessions I set my ego and energy aside to be able to notice and give space to you. I am not in these sessions to get scared or judge whatever comes up. The beautiful and the not beautiful are all necessary and completely accepted. This is the time and space provided for anything to come up, feel safe and be heard. This is what leads to transformation and settling.

  • A: Because of my spiritual beliefs, energy hygiene practices and boundaries, these sessions cannot hurt me in any way. I completely let go of anything that comes up and move on after each session.

  • A: I am trained in polarity therapy, core therapy, intuitive energy work and a certified Reiki Master and have been practicing these for over ten years.

  • A: I am a Natural Therapeutic Specialist and was trained at The New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics. I was trained in different energy work modalities there including Core, Polarity Therapy, Flower Essences, Intuitive Work, Herbal Medicine and Massage Therapy and Body Work, in addition to becoming a Certified Gravity Method Colon Hydrotherapist. I am a nationally certified and licensed massage therapist and body worker and continue my education in this to maintain my license. It took me 3 years to become a Reiki Master in the Usui tradition. Most recently I have been participating in Kundalini yoga trainings and became a certified Integrative Health Practitioner (Level 2) under the instruction of Dr, Stephen Cabral.
